Car Assisted Ride to Coxwold – Sunday 10 May 2015

This ride is part of the traditions of CTC – a car assisted ride to the 89th Service of Remembrance at Coxwold near Thirsk, where the beautiful 14th century church will be thronged with cyclists in their multicoloured jerseys. Calderdale CTC has for many years arranged car assisted rides, where members who do not have access to a car can join in a ride to a distant part of Yorkshire or even beyond.

We will meet at Stump Cross at 8.30 am to load up the bikes for the journey to our start point at Boroughbridge. The outward ride to Coxwold is through some very attractive (and fairly flat !!) countryside and is about 15 miles. There will be an option – led by John Keighley – for a slightly longer ride – about 20 miles on the outward leg.

Excellent refreshments will be on sale in the village hall from 11.00 am and again after the church service. This begins at 1.30 pm and lasts for about 45 minutes. After the service and a chat with old friends we will ride back to Boroughbridge, load up the bikes and return to Halifax.

We have obtained transport for 10 bikes – if you are interested in joining the ride – either as a driver or a passenger – would you please advise John Keighley on 01422 345968.

If you would like a longer ride to the service – about 60 miles round trip – one is being arranged by our friends from Huddersfield CTC starting at Tadcaster at 9 am. For information about this ride contact Ken Roberts on 0772 415 6417.
