On Sunday 11 September we have the third of our 2016 Car Assisted rides, this time to the delightful Monsal Trail between Buxton and Bakewell. The ride also includes an option of a visit to the Chatsworth Estate.
Car assisted rides enable us to visit locations outside West Yorkshire, and to experience new settings and attractions. The Monsal Trail runs along a former railway line in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales, featuring spectacular views and even some tunnels. It is 8.5 miles from one end to the other, well surfaced and almost entirely flat. More information can be found on this link http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/visiting/trails/monsaltrail
Because there is restricted parking at the western end of the Trail we will start at Millers Dale (large car park, toilets, tea van) and ride to the on trail cafe at Hassop. From there riders have a choice; either to continue a short distance along the Trail to Bakewell (cafes and lots of other attractions in one of Derbyshire’s prettiest settlements), or, for the more energetic, to ride on road the four miles to the well known tea rooms at Edensor on the edge of the Chatsworth estate for lunch. We will return and hopefully meet up with those who have ridden to Bakewell at Hassop cafe and ride back together to the start.
This is a very easy ride of only about 25 miles for the Chatsworth option. BOOKING IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL.
If you would like to come along – particularly if you can offer spaces for riders and / or bikes – please contact Reid Anderson on 0776 332 8804 not later than Friday 9th September.
