Recognising the importance of promoting cycling highlighted in the “Get Britain Cycling” report in 2013, the Government has committed itself to producing a national plan for cycling that incorporates targets and funding streams. After a number of false dawns, a draft of this plan, provisionally called the “Cycling Delivery Plan” appeared in October 2014.
It is expected that, following consultation, the final version of the Plan will appear before the end of 2014. A key issue will be funding for the proposals that appear in the Plan to achieve the targets for increased levels of cycling.
