Our ride on 11 August is another car assisted one, this time from Fairburn in the company of our friends from Huddersfield CTC who have organised the event in memory of two of their late members, John Radford and Derrick Fisher. The ride is 100km (63 miles), almost entirely flat, with a break for lunch at Selby Morrisons about half way round. Toilets, tea and coffee available at the start.
The ride proper starts from Fairburn Old Village Hall, Silver Street, Fairburn postcode WF11 9JA at 0930 hrs. There is parking available at the Village Hall. For our part we will meet at Bethel Street Car Park Brighouse (opp Wetherspoons) at 0815 hrs to depart at 0830 hrs. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Fairburn via the M62 (exit Jct 33) and then the A162 / A1246.
If you need transport to get to the start, or if you are intending to ride and have spaces for bodies / bikes in your vehicle, can you let me know as soon as possible please so I can make the necessary arrangements. Please note I cannot guarantee transport if folk turn up on the day expecting transport to be provided; thanks. Also note that if you are travelling direct to Fairburn the intention is to start the ride at 0930 prompt. Thanks again.
Thanks to Keith Robinson and Graham Joyce our three previous car assisted rides have been well supported and successful, hopefully this one will be the same. Although it is the longest car assisted ride in this year’s programme, it is almost entirely flat along some quiet lanes in beautiful countryside on the boundary of West and East Yorkshire.
