Hello CTC Calderdale members,
I am writing to update you with the latest information.
As you all know we have been doing our best to facilitate riding throughout the Covid crisis while at the same time complying with the law and government guidance as informed by Cycling UK advice. We have done what we were able to do when restrictions lifted but currently only riding with one other person is allowed. However the future looks brighter and we will be re-introducing rides as soon as we are able to.
We hope that, as we see and feel the first signs of an impending spring with this unseasonably warm weather, we will be soon be able to once again ride together in club groups and events when it is safe to do so.
Like most Cycling UK / CTC member groups, the restrictions in place meant we had to postpone our group AGM in November 2020 because a face to face meeting with members being physically present was not possible. However Cycling UK has changed its administrative timetable and now requires member groups to hold their AGMs before the End of April 2021.
To that end we have set a date on Thursday evening 29th April 2021 at 7.30pm. As it is unlikely that a physical meeting will be possible, your committee has decided to follow the Cycling UK recommendation that the meeting be held using Microsoft Teams as the medium of delivery.
This year we are saying goodbye on the committee to some of its longest serving members and there are vacancies for anyone who would like to get involved in running the club. We need you to seriously consider becoming a committee member in order for the group to continue. The current vacancies are as follows.
- Vice President 1
- Thursday evening Rides Coordinator
- Sunday Rides Coordinator
- Winter Clubroom Secretary
- External Relations Officer
- Welfare Officer
Please get in touch with me if you would like any further information on any of these roles.
We would also welcome people who are willing to serve on the committee without specific roles.
The following are currently willing to stand again but ANYONE can also seek election to these positions:
- President – Chris Crossland
- Vice President 2 – John Whiteley
- Chair – Chris Crossland
- Secretary – Jayne Moore
- Registration Officer – Dave Dodwell
- Communications Officer (website) – Jason Hemmingway
- John Whiteley
Would you seriously consider whether you could serve on the club committee in any capacity outlined above or speak to your friends about doing so. Could you please respond to me with any nominations (please seek approval from that person) and also someone to second the nomination. Nominations can be accepted right up until 7.30pm on Thursday 22nd April (7 days before the meeting)
Please also let me know in writing by the same date any proposals to be considered at the AGM, with the names of the proposer and seconder.
Finally could you please let me know if you are attending the AGM so that we can ensure you get the log in details and get the Agenda to you.
If fewer than ten members attend the AGM that will not constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. In such a case it is possible that Cycling UK may disband the group and take control of its assets.
Please send all replies to me.
